Guidelines for Use
For a successful Toolbox Talk delivery:
Start with a clear purpose. Before you begin, set the stage by explaining that the talk is a short, focused discussion aimed at creating a better workplace for everyone.
Facilitate, don't lecture. These talks are designed to be conversations, not presentations. Encourage participation and create a safe space for open dialogue by asking thoughtful questions and actively listening.
Keep it brief and focused. Each talk is designed to be around 15 minutes, including discussion. Stick to the provided script and time limits to respect everyone's time and keep the conversation on track.
Connect to the work. Use the provided examples to link the topic directly to your specific jobsite, office, or school environment. This helps make the concepts relevant and relatable for your team.
Follow up with action. Conclude each talk by reviewing the key takeaways and encouraging team members to commit to a small, actionable step. This ensures that the conversation leads to real, lasting change.
